The Li-ion Tamer Multi Output Solution (MOS) detection system is ideal for small or single-area installations, providing standalone protection and easy integration for modular Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). It detects the initial venting of electrolyte solvent vapours (off-gassing) and the presence of hydrogen gas - well before thermal runaway, smoke, or traditional detection systems are triggered. Early detection allows operators to take timely mitigation actions, helping reduce the risk of catastrophic battery failure and maintain safe operation.

The MOS system is plug-and-play and easy to install, consisting of two primary components: the off-gas sensor and the interface module. The sensor incorporates advanced on-board algorithms, requires no calibration (only a bump test), and is compatible with all lithium-ion battery chemistries and form factors. The interface module provides alarm and fault relay outputs, as well as Modbus or CANbus communication for integration with battery management and ventilation systems.

Key Benefits:

  • Early warning of lithium-ion battery failures
  • Enable thermal runaway prevention with proper mitigation actions
  • Single-cell failure detection without mechanical or electrical contact
  • Independent and redundant perspective on battery health
  • Compatible with all lithium-ion battery chemistries and form factors
  • Calibration-free product (only requires bump test)
  • Highly reliable output signals with reduced false positives
  • Low power consumption, cost-effective solution for modular BESS
  • Easy installation and plug-and-play setup
  • Supports 2 alarm relay outputs and 1 fault relay output
  • Configurable communication protocols including Relay outputs and Modbus/Canbus selection communication

NOTE: For larger or more complex installations, the Li-Ion Tamer Gen 3 system is recommended, providing multi-sensor scalability and comprehensive coverage across multiple battery enclosures or large energy storage systems.
