The Li-ion Tamer GEN 3 system provides reliable early detection of lithium-ion battery failure by sensing electrolyte solvent vapours released during the off-gas phase. This delivers critical early warning of developing thermal runaway events - well ahead of traditional detection methods such as smoke or heat detection.

By identifying failure conditions at an early stage, the system enables facility managers to respond quickly and implement appropriate mitigation measures, helping reduce the risk of catastrophic thermal runaway events.

The GEN 3 system is designed for scalability, supporting configurations from a single sensor node to large multi-sensor installations. Each sensor node monitors temperature, humidity, and off-gas, while the central controller manages all nodes and provides Modbus TCP/IP output as standard, with optional additional relay outputs available for system integration. The system is easy to install and configure, and sensors are calibration-free (only a bump test). The GEN 3 is compatible with all lithium-ion battery chemistries and form factors.

Key Benefits:

  • Early warning of lithium-ion battery failures
  • Enable thermal runaway prevention with proper mitigation actions
  • Battery cell failure detection without mechanical or electrical contact to the cells
  • Independent and redundant perspective on battery health
  • Compatible with all lithium-ion battery form factors and chemistries
  • Temperature and humidity monitoring at each sensing node
  • Scalable deployment for cost effective protection of wide range of battery storage system installations
  • Easy installation and system configuration via interface software that reduce setup costs
  • Calibration-free sensors and extended product lifetime that reduce cost of ownership
  • Communication protocols including relays and Modbus outputs

NOTE: For smaller or single-area installations, the Li-Ion Tamer Multi Output Solution (MOS) sensor system offers a standalone, plug-and-play solution.
